Manufacturing Engineer

Location: MDS, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Hours of Work : 40 hours per week, typical hours Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 2pm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and improvement of existing manufacturing systems, processes, procedures and equipment to maximize safety, quality and delivery, and to minimize cost of manufacture.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement the most efficient and cost effective production methods required to manufacture major sub-components and final assembly of machines.
• Coordinate with production, engineering and quality assurance departments to establish / implement containment and route cause fixes to manufacturing issues.
• Implementing best practice standard work on shop floor to improve safety and quality and maximize efficiency.
• Management of BOMs and material movement through Plan For Every Part.
• Develop ergonomic processes designed around Lean Manufacturing principles including Visual Management, and 5S and Standard Work
• Provide production support to production departments.
• New product introduction, design for manufacture reviews, establishing processes, production launch.
• Any other duties as are reasonably required.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree educated or equivalent in Manufacturing and/or Engineering, you will be able to demonstrate effective leadership, in both strategic and tactical decision making.
• Competent user of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally CREO and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Good technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• A good understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines.
• Creative and innovative thinker with a track record of providing unique or different solutions when problem solving.
• Good English communication skill, both written and spoken.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Good Presentation and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A strong motivator with excellent communication skills, you will be fully conversant on modern design practices and “Lean” manufacturing techniques.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment specialising in similar products
• Someone who cultivates a team spirit with the respect of others’ ideas and requirements.
• It would be desirable that the successful applicant will have leadership and management skills and will also have a proven record in utilizing people effectively and managing performance against committed deliverables.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects at one time.
