FOOD INCUBATION CAMPUS - GENERAL MANAGER

 

Cpl are delighted to partner with BIA Innovator Campus CLG on their next crucial hire. BIA Innovator Campus CLG is Irelandâs leading food incubation and innovation campus which aims to support ambitious food businesses through state-of-the-art food production facilities coupled with the technological and business supports needed to promote innovation and scaling. BIA Innovator Campus CLG seek to hire a new dynamic General Manager to lead their organisation in its next phase, to drive and develop the food industry in the region working in collaboration with various stakeholders. The role is ideal for someone, with a 3rd level food or relevant qualification, with 10+ yearsâ experience working in tandem with Board of Directors, employees and various government agencies both locally and nationally.

 

Leadership and Strategy

·       Under the direction of the Board and key stakeholders, set the overall vision and goals of the organisation through the strategic plan and the associated operational plans.

·       To provide leadership to BIA Innovator Campus and to take responsibility for its management and administration within the strategic and accountability frameworks in place.

·       Establish priorities in agreement with the Board and set, monitor and attain robust targets for the organisation.

·       Deliver a sustainable financial model for the organisation and ensure a strong focus on efficiency and value.

·       Seeking out and developing new strategies for ensuring future resources.

·       Inspire and lead the team and support them in the implementation of the overall strategy through the alignment of targets and objectives with organisational goals and objectives.

·       Ensuring that BIA Innovator Campus CLG has the human, financial and material resources it needs to operate effectively.

·       Work to create a work environment where employees are challenged and fulfilled.

·       Ensure that appropriate, meaningful, sustainable internal governance strategies are in place including Human Resource and other key management policies.

·       Report regularly to the Board on the progress of the organisation.

·       Identify and implement opportunities for innovation at organisational and Food sectoral levels.

 

Governance

·       Ensure effective governance by working closely with the Board and its subcommittees to ensure they operate effectively and in accordance with their terms of reference.

·       Ensure that the Chair and the Board members receive sufficient and timely information and advice to make informed decisions.

·       Ensure the organisation fulfils its constitutional, legal, statutory, and regulatory responsibilities by putting in place an appropriate suite of documents and processes and communicating these effectively throughout the organisation.

·       Maintain awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that affect the organisation and communicate these issues in an appropriate and timely way.

·       Ensuring the organisation has the right management systems and structures to carry out its work effectively, accountably, and safely.

·       With the Chair, ensure that the board can adequately monitor annual plans, targets and performance.

·       With the Chair, develop policy proposals for board discussion and decision.

·       Supporting the Chair, suggesting development opportunities as appropriate.

·       Enabling the board to broaden its capabilities and develop its leadership potential.

·       Deliver on the requirements of Service Level Agreements.

 

Finance

·       Implement a robust and sustainable financial model for the organisation.

·       Draw up the annual operational budget for Board approval and put in place the arrangements to ensure that the organisation operates within that budget and that effective financial reporting arrangements are in place.

·       Develop and deliver EU projects and ensure compliance with the governance requirements.

·       Provide accurate analysis of budgets, reports and financial trends and operational      procedures to assist the Board of Directors and staff.

·       Grow strategic financial partnerships.

·       Work with funders, to optimise value for money and investment in the organisation. 

·       Establish and deliver targets for additional funding streams.

·       Ensure delivery of Service Arrangement contractual commitments. 

·       Ensure best practice standards in Accounting and Audit are met and maintained.

·       Ensure compliance with requirements of grant funding.

 

Promoting BIA Innovator Campus CLG and the Food Sector

·       Work to enhance the reputation of BIA Innovator Campus CLG.

·       Seek opportunities to expand and promote awareness of BIA Innovator Campus CLG, its work and opportunities for collaboration.

·       Act as spokesperson as appropriate.

·       Develop and deliver appropriate marketing strategies and campaigns.

·       Identifying grant schemes which would benefit the organisation, making applications and meeting funders when necessary.

·       Establish and maintain working relationships with relevant Agencies and the Food Sector.

·       Ensure BIA Innovator Campus CLG works with other key agencies on strategic issues of common concern to the Food Sector.

·       Represent the organisation at internal and external events and ensure it is well understood by relevant stakeholders.

·       Identify opportunities to communicate the key messages and work of BIA Innovator Campus CLG in a structured and consistent way.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS

·       Degree and/or relevant (food) professional qualification - Masterâs level is desirable.

·       5+ years working in the Food Industry or FMCG sector.

·       10+yearsâ experience working at senior management level, in both food/charity in Ireland.

·       Track record in accessing European funding and managing EU funded programmes.

·       A thorough understanding of the key issues affecting the Food Sector and the charity sector.

·       Strong financial and income generation experience.

·       Proven ability to make difficult decisions as well as managing change and innovation.
