Description of Post

The Assistant Lecturer will deliver modules in the area of Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology and other related areas. In addition to lecturing, there will be supervision of undergraduate projects.

Appointment(s) may be on a permanent/fixed term/pro-rata/full-time/part-time basis as required at Assistant Lecturer level. A panel will be created for any vacancies that may arise in the future.

Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum

  • An Honours Degree (2.2 or higher) in a relevant Biological Science Level 8 degree [as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)], or equivalent.
  • Three years relevant post-qualification experience.

Desirable

  • A postgraduate qualification at PhD level.
  • Experience of lecturing in a 3rd level environment in the areas of Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry.
  • Experience in the development of new programmes and curricular development.
  • Supervision of undergraduate research projects.
  • Actively engaged in conducting research.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work in teams.
