Mason Alexander have been exclusively retained by a leading renewable energy company based in Dublin who are seeking to hire an Investment Analyst to join their team. This is a hybrid role, part working from home, part working from the office.
Responsibilities:
- This role’s primary focus will be in valuation & financial modelling and project due diligence.
- Support the Manager – Investment Analytics on the development of financial models for use across functional groups (e.g. investment, finance, asset management). This may involve individual asset, portfolio of assets or fund level models that track and assess actual vs budget performance, valuation etc.
- Integral part of the Investment Team and will work with team members on the identification and acquisition of any wind, solar PV and energy storage assets including valuation, contracting structure, financial performance and project finance work streams.
- Responsible for all analytical work related to assigned projects including:
- Prepare valuations and investor return scenarios for Company Fund and investment opportunities;
- Perform due diligence on assigned projects including co-ordination of internal team and external consultants to form a risk adjusted Excel model based valuation;
- Work with the team to negotiate final deal terms with vendor;
- Support the preparation of investment cases to be brought to the company management committee; the Fund’s Investment Committee & the Fund Board or the Investment Committee of an investor;
- Support the negotiation of construction & operational contracts, all leading to financial close; construction and long term operation of the assets.
- Support the Manager – Investment Analytics on developing template valuation models and initiatives to share knowledge and best practice approaches to deal origination and execution (e.g. bid tracking, assumption details, PPA price database etc).
- As required, support Investment team members and senior management in interacting with Fund and investors including:
- Support preparation of documentation, data room in fundraising process, as required.
- Support management in preparation of necessary reporting and governance processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum honours degree qualification in mathematics, finance, engineering or science.
- Minimum three years’ experience of financially analysing renewable project assets in our target markets of the UK; France; Ireland; Italy and other Western European markets with a good understanding of key value drivers and return metrics (e.g. IRRs, cash yields, or exits).
- Transaction experience to include acquisitions and/or disposals and a knowledge of relevant legal transactional documentation.
- Transactional experience in project debt financing would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience in due diligence and/or negotiating key drivers of renewable project valuation and requirements to achieve project financing – resource data, equipment supply agreements, EPC agreements, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) agreements, project finance facilities, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), insurance, financial modelling.
- Experience in both commercial and technical appraisal of renewable energy projects would be advantageous.
- Strong competency in financial modelling and project valuation.
- Good project and stakeholder management skills using both written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Power Point and SharePoint if possible).
