Research Chemist

Our Client, a Materials Specialist, is seeking a Research Chemist to be responsible for developing a robust synthesis and purification method for novel OLED emitters. The incumbent will report to the Process Development Team Leader.

LOCATION: On Site, Shannon Ireland

Some travel required, up to 10% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop scalable processes for OLED emitters that are reproducible and cost-effective through a thorough scientific approach.
  2. Identify and evaluate synthetic routes for new emitter targets. Provide samples using a commercially feasible synthetic strategy.
  3. Advance technology used in the laboratory to improve process development understanding and reduce cycle times (PolyBlock, EasyMax/Optimax, EasyViewer).
  4. Analyze and interpret analytical results and make process changes as necessary.
  5. Provide support for scale-up of new products by technicians in both a kilo lab and plant setting.
  6. Help support existing commercial as well as pre-commercial and developmental products.
  7. Support the use of quality tools (critical thinking, DOE, statistical analysis, etc.) as applicable in the development of new processes.
  8. Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments using common chemistry equipment and instruments (HPLC, UPLC, GC).
  9. Effectively communicate within the work team and provide clear and concise documentation of technical results.
  10. Work in a safe manner. Read, understand, and follow all pertinent SOPs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related field and 0-5 years industrial experience in Pharma or the Chemical industry.
  2. Strong background in organic synthesis.
  3. Ability to plan and execute experimental work with minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to lead technical projects.
  5. For entry level, no industry experience is required.
