What is the opportunity?

This is a fantastic chance to lead and support delivery for multiple integrated multi-functional teams within our Data Solutions team. You will be a key player in achieving higher performance through lean and agile methods, driving quality delivery and maintaining focus on continuous improvement of the team.

The successful candidate will optimise team delivery, manage processes, facilitate defining actions with the team, and maintain communication with customers. You will drive efficiency by removing blockers that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's objectives and actively promoting cross team collaboration.

In this Role, you will
  • Coordinate and work with other Leads (Product, Technical and Design) and teams to break down work and facilitate the prioritisation of work for your teams
  • Manage team dependencies and remove blockers and communicate clearly
  • Constantly evaluate changing priorities and highlight/solve the impact to the overall plan
  • Help manage delivery risks for programmes and value streams throughout delivery
  • Forecasting E2E delivery capacity requirements per planning increment so meet the delivery expectations of the programme or product owner
  • Influence programs, Solution Architects, and Technical Architects to plan for viable deliveries every Sprint and overall goal per PI
  • Empowered to act on team feedback and metrics (cost, cadence, quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas to continuously improve
  • Set an example and be a strong advocate for the benefits of Agile and Lean practices to team members and customers
  • Works with Group Change colleagues to lead the synchronised squads to drive value and incremental delivery within the wider business programmes
  • Accountable for the leadership of between 4-8 squads and ensuring the delivery of value as per the agreed backlog and in line with the PI which support the wider programmes
What will make you stand out?

You have a consistent track record of leading engineering teams with a relentless focus on delivering business value. You have large scale delivery and data management experience. You have technical experience of the end to end SDLC including (on-premise and cloud hosting); agile methodologies, dev/ops processes, management of solution design and development teams, automation tooling, code management and environment services within a data warehouse domain.

You have management experience within a complex business environment, including leading and influencing substantial numbers of non-direct reports and multiple 3rd party suppliers. You have experience of Agile governance, operating models and partner management in a large complex environment. You have a solid grasp of the delivery risks faced by IT delivery and the controls in place to manage & mitigate these risks

Any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;

  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse Technologies and Architecture, specifically around SQL, Teradata Solutions, Informatica and Tableau
  • Financial Services experience

Our growing and exciting Data Engineering team provides the engineering services for the Group's Enterprise Data Warehouse and Enterprise Data Lake. We sit within the Group Data & Analytics Office which is the core team for all things data in the bank.

We deliver the data elements to support Digital, Customer, Regulatory and other change initiatives that drive the Group's transformation agenda.
