Job Opening: Principal or Senior Ecologist

Our client is excited to announce an opening for a dynamic Principal or Senior Ecologist to join their growing environmental team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional with a minimum of 6 years of experience in diverse infrastructure projects, especially in coordinating Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and statutory consent applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing and technical review of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Habitats Directive Appropriate Assessments.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. A relevant third-level degree (Level 8 or higher)
  2. Over 6 years of post-qualification experience, primarily in ecology roles within planning or environmental consultancy
  3. Membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
  4. Proven track record in delivering EIAR, NIS, EcIA, and AA reports
  5. Expertise in leading and coordinating EIA projects for major infrastructure initiatives, including all EIA stages
  6. Proficiency in marine EIA technical areas such as aquatic ecology, marine ecology, ornithology, and commercial fisheries
  7. Experience with freshwater and marine consent management, compliance, and related technical assessments
  8. Strong skills in liaising with statutory consultees and crafting environmental mitigation proposals
  9. Comprehensive understanding of consent and licensing frameworks for terrestrial and offshore infrastructure in Ireland
  10. Exceptional technical report writing, planning, project management, and leadership skills
Desirable:
  1. Postgraduate qualifications (Master's or Doctorate)
  2. Chartered status with a professional body such as CIEEM
  3. Experience in large-scale freshwater, wastewater, and marine infrastructure projects
  4. Skills in tender preparation and client relationship management
