A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a QC Microbiology Specialist

This position involves providing technical support to ensure the continuous production and supply of quality pharmaceutical products in line with the company's priorities. The focus is on equipment validation in the microbiology department to ensure the effective and efficient running of method and equipment validation programs. Additionally, the role involves offering ongoing technical support in microbiology and contamination control. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and coaching skills to help the team become a high-performance organization. Active engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders is crucial, including QC Analytical, Tech Ops, IPT, and QA teams, as well as the Microbiology COE. The candidate should possess a high level of innovation, enthusiasm, and drive to deliver technical excellence in analytical microbiology methods.

What you will do:

Bring energy, knowledge, innovation, and leadership to carry out the following:

  • Provides technical support and leadership in microbiology to other personnel.
  • Supports the environmental control program through environmental monitoring, utilities quality risk management, and implementing corrective and preventative measures.
  • Troubleshoots suspected microbiological contamination events.
  • Develops and validates microbiological methods.
  • Transfers and qualifies analytical methods.
  • Approves GMP documents, procedures, protocols, and reports.
  • Performs bench experiments for validation purposes and troubleshoots issues during validation studies and routine tests.
  • Provides microbiology support to site investigations.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives, including lean lab practices and method optimization/redevelopment.
  • Participates in specifications development.
  • Qualifies and reduces risks associated with laboratory equipment.
  • Updates procedures as necessary.
  • Provides general analytical support to quality control laboratories.
  • Leads microbiology project improvement teams.
  • Coaches and guides colleagues on analytical microbiology.
  • Keeps up-to-date with regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Assesses compendial and regulatory updates related to microbiology and laboratories.
  • Interprets customer needs and finds solutions for non-standard requests.
  • Makes decisions within guidelines and policies that impact microbiology projects.
  • Collaborates with the global Microbiology Network to align on actions related to quality and regulatory changes.

What skills you will need:

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:

  • Preference for a Bachelor's degree or higher, ideally in Microbiology or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated skills in change management and continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge in site microbiology related areas.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar operating environment, including at least 3 years' experience in a Microbiology function
