Job Description

Due to exceptional growth in demand for our services we are currently recruiting for an Associate Director with a track record of assessing climate change risk and identifying and implementing climate resilience and adaptation solution s across a range of sectors and scales, from strategic business wide approaches to individual infrastructure schemes, to join our Carbon and Advisory practice.

Our Carbon and Advisory practice has a well-deserved reputation with FTSE100 and Fortune500 clients, governments, financial institutions, infrastructure owners and operators for Net Zero Resilience and ESG technical advisory services. We support clients to understand how the future climate could affect their business operations, supply chains and markets as well as project level designs.; integrating climate risk and adaptation into strategic business planning, operational delivery as well as disclosure. We conduct climatechange risk assessment and resilience and adaptation planning for infrastructure assets, businesses, cities, and urban master plans.

We also help clients with net zero planning, risk assessment, strategy development, project preparation, capacity-building, and reporting to support their ESG programmes. Our work provides clients with greater confidence in decision making, business planning and operation of major projects, individual assets, multinational portfolios, and cities. The practice works across a wide range of sectors including highways, rail, aviation, power, carbon capture and storage, water utilities and urban regeneration, industrials, manufacturing, FMCG, chems/pharmas, and financial services.

Role

We are seeing an increase in demand for climate risk assessment and associated adaptation and resilience strategies. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to:

  • Strengthen our position as a leader in climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies for infrastructure and business clients in the UK and across the European region.

  • Develop our climate change resilience service offerings with practical and viable solutions for clients.

  • Contribute to the delivery of our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the market in infrastructure and wider business resilience and climate adaptation by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK and across the EMEA region.

  • Support our infrastructure and urban design teams deliver more climate resilient projects.

  • Lead and deliver commercially successful projects that maintain the high-quality professional outputs that we are known for.

  • Develop talent within the team through line management and mentoring and support the upskilling of our colleagues on climate change resilience and adaptation.

  • You will be supported by your line manager with regular mentoring and in continuing your professional development with training and support for chartership.

The successful candidate(s) will be part of the CCSR leadership and be expected to work collaboratively to lead and deliver a range of climate change, ESG and sustainability projects for infrastructure projects, multi-national businesses, international finance institutions, development banks, local, regional, and national governments as well as supporting senior leaders in the wider Environment, Water and Energy end market grow the practice. Qualifications

We are looking for established practitioners with the following:

  • Experience in developing climate change resilience adaption strategies at an organisational level.

  • Experience in climate risk assessment of infrastructure systems and assets, including developing/designing adaptation and resilient solutions (incl. engineered and natural solutions) for infrastructure.

  • Experience across a range of infrastructure sectors: transport, water/wastewater, waste, energy, urban infrastructure, etc.

  • Proven track record in winning and delivering infrastructure, urban/regional and/or business focused climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies both in the UK and overseas.

  • Experience with climate change mitigation and adaptation projects and strong understanding of the role that infrastructure interventions, spatial planning and governance play to increase sustainability and resilience of development.

  • Familiarity with climate projections including using them to build the case with colleagues, clients and their advisors for resilient and adaptive design and planning.

  • Familiarity with wider ESG policy and practice and linkages with adaptation and resilience for infrastructure and multi-national business

  • A desire to deliver technical excellence.

  • A solution-oriented self-starter who can design and deliver work under own initiative.

  • Commercial awareness for technical delivery, business development, marketing, and proposal preparation.

  • Strong industry profile with experience presenting at conferences and publishing knowledge products in professional journals or other channels.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Fluency in other languages an advantage.
