Senior Investment Consultant

What the day will look like

Due to the continued expansion of our Investment Consulting services, we are looking for a Senior Investment Consultant to join our Investment Consulting team.

The role will focus on providing Investment Consulting solutions and advice primarily to Defined Benefit clients, with some exposure to other institutional clients. The role will also be shaped and tailored for the successful individual based on those investment areas they are most expert and have interest in (e.g. business development, fiduciary offering, investment strategy design, responsible investment etc).

Responsibilities include:
  • Serving as Lead Investment Consultant and primary client contact on a number of clients, and establish strong relationships whilst managing handling all aspects of the investment consulting relationship with these clients.
  • You will drive the overall strategic direction and project management of the client relationship and responsible for revenue generation and bringing Aon solutions to the client.
  • Proactively assist with the provision of investment advice to clients on Governance structure, Investment Strategy Reviews, Investment Manager selection, Performance monitoring, Transition management, and Regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and perform asset liability modelling studies utilising Aon's proprietary modelling tools to assist in developing investment strategies for clients.
  • Contribute to the proposition development and marketing of the Aon Delegated Investment Solutions. Participating in the success of the business through mentoring and training for Analysts and Investment Consultants, and contribution to thought leadership.
  • Develop strong relationships across the firm (i.e. with Retirement Consultants, the Administration team, Marketing and Communications, the UK Investment team, the Delegated Consulting investment management team, and the Global Investment Manager Selection team)
  • Developing strong relationships external to the firm i.e. with Global investment managers, and participating in working groups in the industry, such as the Society of Actuaries or the IAPF

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Educated to degree level (likely to be Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business or similar)
  • Professional qualifications considered:
  • Qualified Actuary or currently working towards an Actuarial qualification
  • Qualified CFA or currently working towards a CFA qualification, with Defined Benefit pension experience
  • Willingness to complete APA/QFA qualification (APA in Savings & Investment)
  • You hold a strong experience base with a number of years' financial services experience preferably with a major consulting, asset management or banking firm involved in advising occupational pension schemes and/or institutional investors.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of asset liability modelling and liability driven investment strategies is a distinct advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the process for setting an investment strategy for occupational pension schemes and long-term investors and the factors that influence a clients' decision is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills with a complimentary professional presentation style
