The Opportunity
Our water team in Arup works on a wide range of projects in Ireland and internationally. Projects include flood relief schemes, network and treatment plant design and sustainable drainage design to support Arup in the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We have a wide breadth of skills and qualifications in our team and would be interested in hearing from candidates who are studying civil, structural, chemical, or environmental engineering or for environmental or science qualifications.
As a Water Engineer at Arup:
A number of specialties and project types exist within the Water and Flooding team. The responsibilities can change depending on the specific projects but may include:
- Prepare technical designs, drawings, reports, correspondence, and other outputs in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
- Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies, and technical guidance is interpreted, followed, and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
- Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements.
- Communicate effectively and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of individuals.

We're looking for students who have:
- A proven ability to work within a team environment, both internally among the greater Water team and externally within project teams and with stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of civil and structural components of flood risk, water or linear infrastructure.
- Knowledge of hydrological principles.
- Interest in water and wastewater treatment types.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and strong analytical skills.
