The Role:
The successful candidate will be involved in the implementation of a person centred individualised programme for adults with an intellectual disability in line with the New Directions standards. The successful candidate will have responsibility to fill a key worker role for the people supported by the services.

Qualifications/Experience:
Candidates require a level 7 qualification relevant to the health sector or Community Studies.

Candidates must have experience working in community /social enterprise settings including designing and implementing programmes to enable them to carry out successfully the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with disability. Experience in establishing links with the community, knowledge of micro enterprises is essential. Experience in basic accountancy skills using spreadsheets is an advantage. HACCP certificate is also an advantage.

A full clean manual Irish Driver's Licence is essential.

Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

Working Hours:
78 hours a fortnight based on a 5-day week duty roster. The normal working hours will be Monday - Friday but may involve weekend work if required to meet the needs of the people we support or Personal Outcomes. Contracted hours of work are liable to change from 8am to 8pm over 7 days to meet the requirements of the programme. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave:
22 days per annum.

Remuneration:
€ 32,124 x 12 increments - € 47,750 per annum.

Tenure:
This post is temporary, full-time and pensionable linked to permanent employee's period of leave.

Probation:
A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The
Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Specific Conditions:
- Staff must have a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and help to ensure that they lead as normal and enjoyable a life as possible.
- Staff must treat each person with an intellectual disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person with an intellectual disability.
- Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with adults with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.

Main duties and functions:
- Be familiar with New Directions.
- To be responsible for the implementation of person centred individualised programmes.
- To instruct individuals in aspects of social, educational and personal development and life skills training as required.
- The role of the Instructor/Supervisor is the development of skills in a range of areas such as training/education and integration in the community.
- To instruct the people we support in work skills and provide supports with work experience and job sampling options also to actively liaise with employers on behalf of individuals supported on LGTW programme and Hidden Gem Enterprise Café.
- To be an active member of Orchard Services Team.
- To ensure that the care and training of all individuals is of the highest professional standard using an evidence-based planning approach such as an individual Personal Outcome Plan and a Key Worker system.
- To be aware of and become familiar with fire drill procedures within the Centre, i.e. fire detection, evacuation and fire fighting.
- To be conscious of Health & Safety matters in the workplace and, in particular, to comply with employee obligations as set out under Section 9 of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005. To ensure that all accidents/incidents to the people we support, staff and visitors are reported promptly and that all staff are made fully aware of the contents of the Safety Statement for the Centre.
- Awareness of safeguarding concerns including protocols and guidelines within BOCSI.
- Staff to have an understanding of the Assisted Decision Making Capacity Act 2015
- To ensure that the strictest confidentiality is maintained on all matters relating to the people we support attending the Centre, as outlined in the GDPR guidelines.
- To be willing to participate in all training and centre based activities including taking the people supported by the services on outings.
- To take part in training courses internal and external as necessary.
- To engage in support and supervision with line manager and where appropriate to provide support and supervision.
- To take part in the routine maintenance of all areas within the Centre including cleaning, hygiene and safety with particular attention to Infection Prevention Control guidelines and protocols.
- To co-operate with support staff and all other personnel working directly or indirectly for the welfare of the people we support in the Services.
- To liaise with residential staff and the families so that there is a co-ordinated approach to care and training of the people supported by the services.
- To promote community liaison including advocacy and citizen advocacy.
- To attend Individual Programme Plan Meetings, Case Conferences, and Medical Reviews and have reports prepared for same.
- Drive the service vehicle.
- Promote and maintain a positive team approach to the development and delivery of the programme.
- Carry out such other duties appropriate to the post as directed.
- As the duties and responsibilities of any post in the Service are likely to change with the ongoing needs of the people we support, i.e. age, level of disability, Personal Outcomes, etc. staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, and a willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work as the people supported by the services needs demand.
- Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned to him/her by
Team Leader, Team Manager Service coordinator/ Area Manager.
- All duties must be carried out in person at all times.

The role of the post holder will not be limited by reference to this Job Description. It would be expected that the role will evolve as professional, structural and people supported by the services demands change and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility skills that will facilitate this.
