The Head of Operations is a strategically important leader for the Castlebar site, they are responsible for the Medication Delivery and Pharmaceutical value streams of the 24/7 operation (~60% of total operation, 130M products annually). This team operates highly automated, semi-automated and manual processes with a total of eight Viaflo fill lines, two Pharma fill lines, two Viaflex fill lines and four packing lines.

You to be directly involved in the physical production that enables Baxter to fulfil our mission to save and sustain lives. You manage the line between meeting production timelines and making quality products. As a manager, you are the trusted critical connection between the business and the workers on the floor. This role plays an integral part in new product development (five new products in the next 12-18 months).

Your team is an extension of your family, and you know how to support them as individuals while helping them achieve results as a team. Your team consists of four direct reports and overall responsibility for a team of 250.

What you'll be doing
  • Responsible for the outgoing quality, safety and efficacy of full Value Stream(s) in high volume, highly automated & regulated manufacturing operation.
  • Management of all financial and budgeting aspects of the Value Stream to set appropriate budgets to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for resolving complex problems and using good judgement where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
  • Regularly interacts with senior leaders on matters concerning functional areas or customers.
  • Interview, hire, mentor, empower, develop, recognise and lead performance of direct reports. Sets performance objectives, support development plans and monitor progress.
  • Drives plant-wide strategic plan programs and activities.
  • Represent manufacturing in new product designs to assure design for manufacturing, testability and reparability.
  • Identifies, initiates and facilitates continuous improvements, lean manufacturing activities and initiatives, such as 6S, visual management, kaizen.
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years manufacturing/operations experience, including 3+ years of leading leaders.
  • In-depth process knowledge of related manufacturing equipment and processes in the Pharmaceutical/Medical Device industry.
  • Ability to understand GMPs and other applicable regulatory guidelines and ability to handle audit-related activities.
  • Proven track record of meeting budgets, schedules and performance requirements and holding other accountable to the same.
