As a Legal Counsel within the Regulatory Offshore Wind Legal Team, you will be acting as one of the key legal advisors supporting RWE Renewables’ offshore wind business in Ireland on legal matters relating to planning and environmental law.

 

We are looking for a motivated Legal Counsel, capable of working alongside other members of the RWE Offshore Wind Legal Team, other support functions within RWE, and external advisors, to deliver a holistic and streamlined service to the offshore wind business in Ireland.

 

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on high-profile and complex renewable energy projects and to be part of a highly experienced international team.

 

Your future plans 

 

  • Providing the business with high-quality legal advice on planning and environmental law matters
  • Advising the business on permitting and planning processes (including marine licensing) and environmental matters, as well as working with expert advisors on obtaining permits and other consents required for the development, construction and operation of offshore renewables projects
  • Developing, assessing, and coordinating, consenting strategies, as well as overlooking project development legal paths
  • Reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Natura Impact Statements for projects
  • Providing advice on discrete planning queries from the various project teams
  • Providing legal advice and representation at planning hearings, injunctions and judicial reviews

 

Your role will also include

 

  • Overseeing consenting processes, including relationships with authorities and stakeholders
  • Developing drafts and templates of relevant notices and communications with authorities and stakeholders etc.
  • Keeping up-to-date with legislative changes and case law in the Planning and Environmental field
  • Establishing and nurturing effective cross-functional and cross-cultural working relationships with legal and business colleagues in the regions of interest and the wider RWE Group

 

Your profile

 

  • Graduated in law and qualified as a Solicitor in Ireland
  • Extensive experience working in an international/top-tier law firm or company advising on Planning and Environmental matters, ideally within the Renewables Energy Sector
  • Exceptional legal instinct, combined with a great understanding of planning and environmental law and infrastructure projects
  • Experience advising on other areas relevant for project development, for example, Real Estate and Regulatory legal matters (beneficial but not essential)
  • Commercial and technical understanding, customer orientation and consulting skills with an ability to integrate details of renewables business into legal requirements
  • advanced organizational, analytical and communication skills and a solution-oriented and positive mindset
  • the ability to handle multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and set task precedence in a global environment
  • be a leader and able to work individually as well as part of a team, with a willingness to take initiative and a high level of commitment and engagement
  • enjoy working in an international team and being open to some travel
