Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for the position of Equipment/Maintenance Engineer within our Production/Maintenance department at our Carlow Site. As an Equipment/Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting process equipment issues and driving continuous improvement projects.

Working closely with maintenance technicians and the maintenance manager, your main objective will be to ensure the effective achievement of all equipment goals in line with company requirements. This includes ensuring compliance, safety, and a reliable supply to our customers. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying areas where changes can be made to eliminate unplanned equipment downtime.

The role of Equipment/Maintenance Engineer is vital in maintaining effective controls for the compliant operation of our production equipment.

We are open to applicants with equipment maintenance experience from any manufacturing or factory facility, as long as you can demonstrate suitability to the responsibilities outlined above.

What you will do:

Bring energy, knowledge, innovation, and leadership to carry out the following:

• Complete planned maintenance according to manufacturing schedule, collaborating with production colleagues and other departments.
• Manage process and equipment improvements through projects as needed.
• Deliver training and focus on continuous process improvement using Lean Principles.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems, identify the need for new equipment or modifications, and drive change through the change control system.
• Reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment effectiveness through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Serve as the point of contact for new equipment or modifications.
• Provide support for audits and inspections to ensure department compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and standard tools and methods.
• Identify opportunities for financial savings and support projects in that area.
• Develop and implement operational procedures, training materials, and maintenance procedures.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and management to the team.
• Ensure the team has the necessary resources and programs for technical and personal development.
• Comply with global policies, procedures, guidelines, regulatory requirements, and cGMP.
• Promote a safe and compliant culture in the workplace.
• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

What skills you will need:

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related Science, Engineering, or other Technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in a GMP environment.
• Knowledge of regulatory and code requirements for Irish, European, and International Codes, Standards, and Practices.
• Preferably, experience with sterile filling processes and equipment.
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain process instrumentation and equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-related computer applications.
• Knowledge of cGMP and GDP preferred.
• SAP knowledge and experience preferred.
• Strong report, standards, and policy writing skills.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodology desired.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external customers.
