What’s the Opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a Frontend Engineer , to work on the Daft web application. The successful candidate should have at least 5 years of similar experience, be up-to-date with modern frontend technologies, a passion for building intuitive web experiences and will thrive in a high performance, fast paced, ambitious and fun environment.

This is more than a technical role, you will be contributing to the overall product development effort. Your experience will inform our engineering process and decisions when building new features.

You’ll be part of one of our multi-functional product delivery teams and will work closely with designers, product owners, quality engineers, and multi-disciplined developers.

What will I be doing

Frontend Engineers are a crucial part of the Distilled Product Delivery Teams. Working closely with the design team, we implement responsive user interfaces, using modern libraries and frameworks, such as React, Typescript and NextJS.

As a Frontend Engineer at Distilled you will:

  • Take responsibility for defining and delivering the solution for complex features for the Daft platform

  • You can work independently or mentor junior team members successfully

  • Build efficient and reusable frontend systems for the Distilled platforms

  • Enjoy building web interfaces that have intuitive usability

  • Always strive to ensure our codebase is clean, scalable and secure

  • Be an advocate for coding standards within the team

  • Keep abreast of new technologies and techniques in frontend development

What skills and experience do I need

  • At least 5 years demonstrated ability in a similar role

  • Excellent HTML, CSS and Javascript skills. Experience with Typescript is also highly desirable.

  • Significant experience delivering fully responsive web solutions using mobile first techniques and React framework.

  • Experience working with Next.js and Restful APIs

  • Unit and integration testing experience using tools such as Cypress and Jest

  • Strong communications skills - the ability to share ideas and influence outcomes, working and collaborating with team members

  • Ability to thrive independently and work on your own initiative, while also being a strong teammate

Advantage if you have

  • Good understanding and experience with NodeJS

  • Web app performance experience

  • JS bundler experience (webpack)

  • Experience with Styled Components or Storybook

  • Experience working with design systems to build reusable components
