At AbbVie Westport, we are now recruiting an IT Systems & Applications Team Lead to join our Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team.

In this new role, you will report to the Site BTS Lead/Associate Director and be responsible for driving cross-functional business-IT development, solution planning and relationship management to the manufacturing and lab areas at the Westport site. 

They provide end-to-end technical solution leadership and business process alignment through the delivery and maintenance of Business Technology Solutions and Manufacturing and Laboratory Systems. In partnership with site, regional and global organizations, the Systems BTS Lead advocates for and enables a unified approach to shop floor management, proposes, plans (capital plan and long range plan) and executes projects that deliver innovation and digital enablement of IME’s business imperatives

The key activities of your role as  IT Systems & Applications Team Lead :
• Ensure high availability of IT services for manufacturing and Lab and supporting functions & areas of the site
• Lead, motivate and mentor your team to maximize their effectiveness by clearly communicating task details and goals to your team members, allowing them to work effectively
• Lead the site BTS manufacturing and lab organization with performance transparency (e.g., IT performance metrics / KPI’s).
• Assess and benchmark digitalization and Factory of the Future capabilities for the site.
• Ensure delivery of robust sustainable technology solutions that meet site, region and network priorities, drive standardization as well as continuous improvement of IT solutions for the site providing with high availability and managing technology lifecycles
• Promote, expand and improve data access and utilization for consumption and analysis both on BTS site team as well as on business side.
• Ensure cyber resiliency, compliance and data integrity regulatory standards are maintained and adhered to across all manufacturing systems under control.
• Drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement as to grow knowledge on the team and identification of potentials and execution towards lean processes
• Establish and advance a high performing team of SMEs by recruiting, training, coaching and developing people, clearly communicating goals, performance expectations, role responsibilities and performance feedback in alignment with AbbVie’s Talent philosophy
• Build trustful and sustainable relationships to enable cross-functional prioritization across multiple business and technology functions, lobbying for support of business demand: IME, Quality, Supply Chain, BTS in alignment with Operations’ strategic priorities.
• Liaise with Global BTS, OES, Infrastructure and Quality teams ensuring high standards of service delivery and engage to influence continuous improvement opportunities for site operations
• Responsible for budget of BTS site operations, systems operations, licenses and services and local BTS projects for all Manufacturing and Lab areas as directed by Manager


The educational background and experience we look for:
• Minimum Masters Degree in relevant IT, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electronics, or similar degree.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• 2+ years of direct people management experience
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry preferred.
• Systems background: ERP/SAP, MES (POMSNet), Data Historian (OSI PI), TnT), QC Lab Systems (Empower / Sample Manager) and LabX. SCADA/DCS distinct advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance, IT System Life Cycle, Compliance and Data Integrity
• Ability to manage and support manufacturing and lab operations in conjunction with site and global teams.
• Ability to understand various technologies and effectively master application architecture, design and integration complexities.
• Proven ability to make clear and courageous decisions that influence leadership and key stakeholders at site, regional and global levels.
• Experience with process improvement methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) will be of added value.
