Graduate Health & Safety Officer

Our Dublin based client is looking for a Graduate Health & Safety (H&S) Officer to support the health and safety initiatives at their plant. In this role, you’ll work closely with the H&S team to ensure a safe working environment, assist with compliance, and help foster a positive safety culture. This position is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills and grow within the field of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing health and safety (H&S) practices and programs to promote safety and well-being.
  • Support the team in ensuring the plant complies with current H&S legislation and industry standards.
  • Help maintain and update H&S policies and ensure employees are informed and engaged.
  • Participate in safety audits and inspections to uphold high H&S standards across the site.
  • Assist in investigating accidents and incidents, including recommending and following up on corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with teams to maintain H&S standards during the introduction of new equipment, processes, or materials.
  • Support the delivery of H&S training sessions to help employees understand and prioritize safety.
  • Work with Shift Safety Teams and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to ensure preparedness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in workplace safety practices.
  • Assist in emergency response planning and ensure readiness for potential incidents.
  • Provide support to the Occupational Health team to promote employee well-being.

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of experience in health and safety or relevant work experience/internship. (Not essential)
  • A passion for improving workplace safety and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Basic knowledge of H&S legislation and an eagerness to learn and develop expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • A team player who is comfortable working with others and taking initiative when needed.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow through on tasks and projects.

Education & Qualifications

  • A degree, diploma, or certification in Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field (or working towards one).
  • A recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate) is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
