Data42 science delivery team is currently seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Senior Data Science Expert. About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading projects and effectively communicating with stakeholders and collaborators.
  2. Pooling and analyzing multimodal clinical trial data to address scientific questions such as target discovery, compound prioritization, disease progression, and indication expansion, in close collaboration with teams across Novartis.
  3. Developing and applying advanced ML and AI algorithms tailored to biomedical data, including deep learning models, to derive actionable insights from complex multimodal datasets.
  4. Connecting data resources with project teams to enhance hypothesis generation by sharing insights derived from or applied to data from different drug development pipeline phases.

Role Requirements

  • PhD in bioinformatics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational biology, or a related field, with substantial postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience in academia or the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Solid understanding of biology.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python for statistical programming, bioinformatics, ML, and reproducible research (e.g., R Markdown, Jupyter Notebooks).
  • Experience in software engineering best practices (version control, testing, documentation).
  • Familiarity with omics data types such as genetics, bulk, single-cell, spatial transcriptomics, and proteomics.
  • Proficiency in biostatistics methods for inference and hypothesis testing.
  • Track record of applying AI/deep learning to scientific data.
  • Ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team and present complex data science concepts clearly to diverse scientific audiences.
  • Strong scientific curiosity, initiative, and learning agility.
