Role Description and Skills
Delmec is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Carlow. This role involves overseeing telecom system installation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. The Senior Project Manager will drive execution strategies, manage resources, track progress, and ensure governance compliance while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
This position requires a strategic thinker with strong people management, leadership, organisational, and communication skills. The Senior Project Manager will define and implement project execution strategies, optimise resource allocation, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders. The role also involves supporting team collaboration and identifying opportunities for process enhancements.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading teams, mitigating risks, and delivering successful outcomes. Experience in integrated software and hardware solutions for mobile network operators is advantageous. Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Define and implement project/program execution strategies to ensure business outcome delivery.
- Ensure to promote and adopt MAD (Modern, Agile, Digitised) principles in projects/program execution and promote the same.
- Develop and track KPIs aligned with organisational business objectives in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Lead and manage complex projects/programs from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Allocate and manage resources, including personnel and subcontractors, to align with customer requirements and business priorities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, success criteria, and develop comprehensive project plans.
- Maintain effective communication with teams, stakeholders, and senior management, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee project execution, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure milestones are met.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and proactively address project risks and issues.
- Implement and manage change control processes for project/program modifications.
- Facilitate team collaboration and decision-making, resolving conflicts to maintain alignment with project goals.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Review and approve project change requests.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting effective project delivery and performance measurement.
- Monitor project progress using standard methodologies, tracking key metrics such as costs, defects, and resource utilisation.
- Lead by example in addressing challenges and driving team performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure the highest standards in health & safety, quality, and client service, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Conduct site inspections, track corrective actions, and ensure safety standards are upheld.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities with current customers.
Requirements
- Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline an advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management or program delivery for large-scale projects within telecoms, civil, industrial, construction or technical environment.
- Experience in delivering integrated software and hardware solutions for mobile network operators desirable.
- Ability to grasp and understand the business concepts, in addition to the technical imperatives of a project and to participate in high-level technical discussions with the team and client.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships while managing expectations.
- Experience in managing multiple customer-facing projects simultaneously.
- Results-driven, self-motivated, and resourceful with strong client-facing skills.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Financial awareness and budget management experience.
- Lean experience would be an advantage.
- Excellent IT skills.
