We are currently seeking a Technical Services Process Development Scientist to join our clients Technical Services team in Co. Waterford. This is a dynamic and collaborative role, ideal for someone passionate about pharmaceutical formulation and scaling processes from lab to commercial production.
About the Role:
As a key member of the Technical Services function, you will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in formulation and production process development. You'll support projects from early-stage development through to commercial scale-up, working closely with R&D, production, and business development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and optimisation of drug product formulations and manufacturing processes.
- Apply Quality by Design (QbD) principles, scientific thinking, and regulatory knowledge throughout development.
- Manage process development from pilot to commercial scale, including tech transfer activities.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions and process controls to ensure product quality and compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of technical excellence.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, protocols, and reports to a high standard.
- Represent the Technical Services function in cross-functional meetings and projects.
What You'll Need:
- BSc or higher in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification desirable).
- 5+ years experience in formulation or process development in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong knowledge of QbD, process validation, and scale-up activities.
- Proven experience with drug/material characterisation and manufacturing technologies.
- Effective communicator with excellent technical writing and project leadership skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
