Commercial Underwriter Specialist

Hybrid - 3 days from home

As a Commercial Underwriter, you will play a key role in underwriting commercial multi-line property and liability business. You will work alongside and develop relationships with broker partners and sales colleagues to achieve our client's growth targets and profitability objectives.

Responsibilities

Underwrite commercial business. Actively contribute to the successful growth and development of the Commercial Lines business. Maintain underwriting discipline through ongoing monitoring of selection criteria and use of variable pricing tools. Manage referrals and queries within underwriting authority and adhere to guidelines. Collaborate with team members and colleagues from other departments to provide excellent service to our customers. Help develop and implement product strategies and participate in reviewing the performance of selected business lines.

Requirements

Education:  Professional insurance qualification (minimum CIP, ACII preferred). Experience:  Minimum of 5 years in commercial underwriting for property and liability classes. Competencies:

Strong technical understanding of insurance products and underwriting principles.

Pragmatic decision-making skills with solid underwriting assessment capabilities.

Quality-focused with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build effective working relationships.

Self-motivated with a strong desire to develop knowledge and experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and underwriting applications.
