Job Description

The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Manager to join our Energy and Natural Resources team in Dublin. Owing to the nature of the projects, the role will suit someone with experience of working on large complex Capital Programmes.

Responsibilities
As the Senior Cost Manager, the successful candidate will:

  1. Develop and implement cost management strategies.
  2. Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and governance papers.
  3. Implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
  4. Support the change process by providing cost information for change notices and to underpin forecasts.
  5. Support the risk team with financial impacts of potential risks.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with interfacing disciplines including, but not limited to, Finance, Commercial and Project Managers to ensure alignment of project information.
  7. Provide regular updates on cost control initiatives and financial performance.
  8. Identify trends and variances to budgets and forecasts through financial analysis and provide recommendations to support effective decision making.
  9. Develop reporting tracking tools and generate cost reports on a regular basis.
  10. Lead financial reporting for regulatory submissions.
  11. Train and coach less experienced team members on cost control processes and practices.

Qualifications

  1. Qualification in Quantity Surveying with 10+ years' working in cost management on large capital programmes.
  2. Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team while ensuring that all cost management tasks are conducted in a timely and accurate manner.
  3. Proficient in MS Office (all packages) and knowledge of project financial and cost management systems.
  4. Strong commercial background and financial awareness including monitoring and co-ordination of budgets.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical ability. Strong ability to multitask, prioritise, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are key along with high personal motivation and energy.
  6. Excellent attention to detail to track costs and financial reporting.
  7. Experience working with complex data sets and performing cost benefit analysis.
  8. Good understanding of project governance and regulatory reporting.
  9. Ability to develop long term relationships with all team members, and effectively balance people and processes.
  10. Previous experience of managing resources including mentoring of more junior staff members.
