Senior SW Test Development - Test Framework Developer

What you'll do:

As a member of the software test team at SiriusXM, you will be joining a team of SDET (Software Development Engineers in Test) and Test Engineers responsible for testing of SiriusXM software and products related to in-vehicle infotainment systems and aftermarket SiriusXM products.

The Senior Software Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing test procedures to ensure that software programs work as intended. This position will be a part of the software development team. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a cooperative manner with software engineers, product, and program managers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with software engineers, program managers, requirements managers, and other product stakeholders to understand product features and the complete set of requirements to the software.
  • Assist in the development of end-to-end automated & manual test cases.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure the effectiveness and quality of the components and systems developed.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test cases, ensuring the quality and stability of the system throughout the project.
  • Generate testing completion metrics and analysis, as well as status read-outs to upper management.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enhance test plans, test scripts, traceability matrices, and test methodologies that ensure exhaustive testing of all assigned software systems to ensure compliance with software/system specifications.
  • Anticipate potential software problems by creating test scenarios.

What you'll need:

  • BS Engineering or SW Engineering, Computer Science, computer Engineering or equivalent experience required. MS Engineering is desired with 3-6+ years' experience with Test Development and Environments.
  • Experience in Consumer or Automotive Software development and Frameworks.
  • Experienced in Consumer or Automotive Client Application.
  • Experienced in Tools for test development.
  • Experience in test automation.
  • Application of software development life cycle concept.
  • Knowledge and application of at least one programming language.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledgeable of Object-Oriented Programming concepts.
  • History working with automation frameworks creating automated test scripts.
  • Tester's Mindset - Strong testing acumen as well as the technical know-how to automate the work.
  • Troubleshooting - Exceptional ability to isolate & troubleshoot technical issues across the full technology stack by leveraging automated testing methodologies.

Technical Skills:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in modern C/C++.
  • Troubleshooting - Good skills in identifying and resolving technical and networking/communication issues throughout the entire technology stack.
  • Experience with automated testing methodologies and frameworks, preferably Google Test.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
  • Skilled in utilizing CMake for efficient build configuration and dependency management.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Understanding of dependency injection and Software Design Patterns.
  • Experience with proxy servers and related technologies, Charles, and virtualization port tools like VSPE, COM2COM.
  • Experience in test automation.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., MSTest, NUnit).
  • Familiarity with Rust is optional.
  • Experience with Code Coverage tools and procedures is a plus.
  • It would be good to have Python skills as the majority of stress testing and KPIs etc. can benefit from Python scripts.
  • Ability to work seamlessly across both Linux and Windows development environments, and experience with cross-compilation and Android build tools.
  • Experience with embedded systems or device-specific testing frameworks for structured, device-oriented automated test framework.
