We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO featuring a well-known IP. You have the opportunity to join a highly experienced team to make a lasting impact on one of the next big releases.

What You Will Do

Reporting into the Executive Producer, you will design, build and iterate the test framework, directing QA operations. Overseeing both internal and external teams, you will be responsible for devising the QA strategy, managing resources and financial needs, administering and coordinating tools, while working closely with the Senior Leadership and wider team to champion a culture of quality throughout the broader business. You will help shape the future on how we continue to iterate to success, and evolve the way we work.

  1. Define and implement the departments test framework and strategy, striving for continuous improvement within a fast paced & changing environment.
  2. Plan and structure QA resourcing needs, while feeding into an annual operating plan based on project direction and growth.
  3. Recruit and lead the projects QA management / leadership team across all areas.
  4. Champion the project toward a Culture of Quality, defining its pillars and educating team wide to help deliver its presence in all that we do.
  5. Create and build on existing team metrics for measurement of quality and operational excellence, always striving to improve quality both within and outside the QA team.
  6. Collaborate and define expectation with all external QA vendors, building effective KPIs and proactively establishing ways to consistently get the best from them.
  7. Research and (where applicable) build business cases for the integration / investment of new tools and practices, approaching tactfully and always considering the wider business needs.
  8. Ensure releases are always of the highest standard, both in terms of defect mitigation & user experience. Investigate if and when serious issues make it into the Live environment, plugging gaps and helping mitigate future occurrences.
  9. Lead annual team remuneration reviews and submissions, based on individual, project, and wider industry movements.
  10. Remain in line with the vision of Scopely's VP of quality, supporting the businesses wider quality guidelines and initiatives, and adopting what makes sense for the project.
  11. Provide reports and risk assessments to senior management and other business stakeholders when it's vital / called upon.
  12. Administrate QA tooling, extracting the most from these and in the best way possible. Work with the Technical team to assist with internal tool development, to further QA coverage and efficiency.
  13. Oversee the management of our JIRA bug database, keeping a healthy and digestible insight into the quality of the project at all times.
  14. Manage the QA Confluence space, maintaining a relevant and progressive set of documentation to aid understanding of QA governance and guidance.
  15. Establish and maintain strong communication with cross-functional teams across all disciplines for both internal and external development, including localisation efforts.
  16. Collaborating closely with the People team, provide and communicate clear progression paths within the QA org, and support the creation of Career Development Plans throughout your team using the Scopely Job Family Architecture.
  17. Generate and maintain deep knowledge of the project and its core game mechanics, in order to assist in the carrying out of other duties.
  18. Sporadically attend stand ups, triages, demos and other ceremonies to remain present with each cluster and the project overall.
  19. Be an advocate and spokesperson for Automation efforts, clearly communicating successes, risks and opportunities to help better our quality efforts and efficiency.
  20. Run regular team activities to promote bonding and upkeep of team morale.
  21. Be a champion with regards to the Scopely tenets for all to see.
What We're Looking For
  1. 10 + years as a quality assurance professional.
  2. 6 + years management experience in leading a team through a full game cycle.
  3. Excellent written/verbal communication in English.
  4. Experience in building a QA organization that is responsible for end-to-end validation for a critical system or application.
  5. Deep understanding of Dev QA and external testing strategies, with the capability to influence change that achieves exceptional product quality.
  6. Experience working with remote teams and with a cross functional team that is distributed around the globe.
  7. Experience and ease in collaborating with with Senior Management, working to develop and maintain strong, effective relationships across the organization.
  8. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure to hard deadlines.
  9. Demonstrated experience managing bug defect solutions & creating test plans.
  10. Strong understanding of software development (SDLC) practices & nomenclature, quality assurance techniques, frameworks and methodologies.
  11. Flexible and dynamic – quickly adapt to changing needs of the business.
  12. Commercial awareness - the ability to view situations from a commercial or business perspective.
  13. Proficient with setting up and navigating through bug database management, test case management tools, Google Docs, Google Sheets/Excel, and a build distribution management system (AppCenter).

  1. Mobile Freemium/F2P gaming experience.
  2. Any experience with Localization, LQA, build distribution and submission.
