Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Coca-Cola HBC Full time

We are on a multi-year transformation journey to modernize our network of 18 manufacturing sites. This requires a different approach to engineering and automation strategy. In the recent past, the automation solution decisions were made at an individual plant level. The plan is to change that to a set of automation standards and guidelines for different automation systems, so the CPS sites can choose from based on their business need and masterplan. The Automation Manager will be responsible for delivering this in partnership with CPS sites and system integrators. In the near term, the role will be heavily focused on greenfield sites given the amount of automation solutions to be deployed.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, CPS Automation, this role is to provide leadership, coordination, and direction to the CPS site automation teams and external technical service providers.

Being part of the Automation COE team, this role is to work closely with the Automation Director and other COE members to evaluate the latest automation technologies, share best practices, drive standardization across CPS plants, and provide technical guidance and support to execute global initiatives in the region, ensuring the projects are aligned with global automation strategy.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create automation system standards and guidelines in collaboration with external suppliers and CPS internal teams, including but not limited to instrumentation, automation electrical safety standards, PLC, SCADA, Batch control, Energy monitoring systems, building management systems, and other auxiliary automation solutions within the manufacturing environment.
  2. Partner with suppliers to finalize the automation system specifications and ensure the suppliers design and deliver the systems in line with specifications.
  3. Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) of the automation systems to ensure performance meets the specifications.
  4. Participate in equipment startup at the sites.
  5. Update specifications based on learnings from startup as well as based on the technology upgrades available from the supplier or industry.
  6. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  7. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in engineering, preferably Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  2. 5-7 years' experience in the field of automation/digitalization in a manufacturing facility with experience in design, vendor management, FATs, and startup.
  3. Experience in managing global projects and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  4. Detailed knowledge of automation systems in the areas of PLC, SCADA, Batch control, Database and reporting, Historian, ERP integration, Equipment connectivity protocols, EMS, BMS, WMS, Robotics, Drives, Vision systems, and Emerging technologies – IOT sensors, edge devices, etc.
  5. Detail-oriented, analytical, and creative thinker with a passion to improve and digitize work processes.
  6. Excellent project management, planning, and organization skills with the ability to work and deliver in changing environments while adhering to specified deadlines.
  7. Strong influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and get results in a matrixed organization.

Location: The role is ideally located in Ballina. Role will require 50-75% of business travel.

Travel: The role involves travel to suppliers for automation system design reviews and factory acceptance tests, as well as to other factories for benchmarking. There will be travel to greenfield locations for design reviews and extended periods of travel while supporting new sites during construction, commissioning, and stabilization phases.

Reporting: The role reports to the Sr. Director, Automation.
