Job Title: Senior Compliance Manager

Working arrangements: Monday - Friday with hybrid option available

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer and/or their designee

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Role Overview:
The Senior Compliance Manager will play a key role in ensuring that Vision Ireland meets its regulatory, ethical, and operational obligations. The role involves overseeing compliance with Irish charity law, GDPR, fundraising regulations, governance codes, and internal policies. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, the board, and external stakeholders to ensure a culture of compliance and best practice across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Governance:

  1. Ensure compliance with the Charities Regulator and other regulatory bodies.
  2. Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and best practice guidelines affecting the charity sector.
  3. Lead the implementation and monitoring of the Charities Governance Code and other relevant frameworks.
  4. Ensure appropriate risk management processes are in place and integrated into decision-making.
Policy Development & Implementation:
  1. Develop, review, and update policies related to governance.
  2. Provide guidance and training to the management team on compliance-related topics such as Data Protection & GDPR Compliance.
  3. Act as the organisation's Data Protection Officer (DPO) to ensure GDPR compliance.
  4. Implement policies and procedures to safeguard personal data and respond to data breaches.
  5. Conduct periodic data protection impact assessments and training for staff.
Risk Management & Internal Audits:
  1. Develop and implement a compliance risk assessment framework.
  2. Conduct internal audits and spot checks to ensure adherence to policies and regulations.
  3. Report risks and compliance issues to senior management and the board, with recommendations for corrective action.

Key Requirements:
Essential:
  1. Professional qualification in compliance, governance, or risk (e.g., ICSA, ACAMS, CIPD) is preferred.
  2. Bachelor's degree in law, business, governance, or a related field.
  3. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a compliance, governance, or risk management role.
  4. Strong knowledge of Irish charity law, governance codes, GDPR, and financial regulations.
  5. Proven experience in policy development, risk assessment, and internal audits.
  6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and train staff at all levels.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable:
  1. Experience in the nonprofit or charity sector.
  2. Familiarity with fundraising regulations and ethical fundraising practices.
