JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Head Office Accountant the Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for the accounts payable ledger from invoice processing to statement reconciliation to payment of accounts within credit terms in a timely fashion.

THE JOB:

  • Processing and inputting of invoices and verifying accuracy
  • Obtaining authorised approval of invoices prior to payment
  • Monthly Creditor Reconciliations
  • Processing payments to suppliers
  • Accruals calculations
  • Dealing with supplier queries
  • Weekly and Monthly review of Aged Invoices
  • Checking that lodgments to Bank Statements agree with monies recorded on the cash control report
  • Bank Reconciliations and posting of entries to Bank accounts
  • Assisting in the production of monthly accounts
  • Dealing with queries at the request of other people in the Finance Team
  • Flexible in the use of other Accounting systems and providing assistance to other areas of the business

THE PERSON:

  • Strong accounts payable experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience
  • Good organizational skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to use own initiative and work to deadlines
  • Effective multi-tasker with the ability to focus on key priorities
  • Attention to detail and sees tasks through to completion
  • Self-assured with ability to create positive working relationships
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements of the role
  • Good working knowledge of accounts packages and MS office
