The AWS Cloud Engineer must be able operate independently with the ability to influence and coalesce with solution teams across the organization to help deliver engineering solutions to meet Pfizer's business objectives.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESThe AWS Cloud Engineering role provides technical and design experience and will be key in ensuring Pfizer continues to leverage cloud native design patterns aligned with the organizations ability to modernize new and existing projects. The role will help ensure the Cloud Engineering team continues to deliver a secure, compliant, productive, and innovative cloud hosting environment.
The role will bring experience in designing AWS cloud solutions and implementing infrastructure as code capabilities. This role will deeply influence how Pfizer Digital consumes and utilizes AWS hosting technologies in support of all business lines on a global scale and will be critical to the development and modernization of AWS cloud capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have strong demonstratable experience in working within an AWS infrastructure environment along with developing solutions using infrastructure as code.
Responsibilities include:
- Work in a cross functional, global engineering and service development team while creating internal engineering and development standards.
- Knowledge of AWS cloud services with infrastructure design experience.
- Directly influence how our business consumes AWS cloud technologies with a bias towards repeatable infrastructure as code principles.
- Create modern cloud design patterns and help drive consumption of reusable patterns through partnership with creation centers.
- Collaborate with cloud engineers, developers, and product teams to build native cloud capabilities for Pfizer.
- Design and architect global standards for the deployment and management of AWS.
- Ensure continuous improvement initiatives are identified and proactively prioritize and addressed within the AWS environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in an enterprise IT setting, preferably one in a highly regulated industry such as banking/financial or healthcare/pharmaceutical.
- Mid-level knowledge of and experience with AWS infrastructure development, implementation, and sustaining support.
- Experience building and deploying cloud infrastructure using industry standard IaC capabilities such as Terraform.
- Excellent communicator, with an ability to influence horizontally and vertically across a large, complex, and matrixed organization. Adept at managing priorities to identify those outcomes with the greatest value for Pfizer.
- Customer centric mentality biased towards delivering value to Pfizer at the speed demanded by our business.
- Experience integrating application hosting needs with AWS infrastructure capabilities to build secure and well architected capabilities.
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Demonstratable experience working in a DevOps environment with expert level knowledge in building, maintaining, and deploying infrastructure as code solutions.
- Experience building infrastructure as code capabilities using Terraform; configuration management experience using Ansible.
- Experience qualifying cloud services capabilities for use within a GxP regulated environment.
- Cross functional experience in managing cloud infrastructure, security, networking, and application development.
