Job Description:

This is a role based with one of our customers. The Messaging Services Engineer focus is on delivering first-class solutions to customers, working with local and national teams. This is a hybrid role based in Dublin and a 12-month contract.

Role Purpose:

  1. Local Market Delivery Engineer: Define, design, and implement solutions in the area of Messaging Services to cope with business requirements and technology evolution inside the European Region. To satisfy local and global marketing requirements in the area of Messaging Services, including SMS, MMS, Voicemail, IP Messaging evolution (SMSoIP) as well as Cell Broadcast public alerting services. Responsible for constructing/maintaining HLD and LLD according to project needs.
  2. Collaborate with local and remote cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of messaging services. Strong understanding of messaging protocols and network architecture. Define and execute test plans to ensure services operational excellence. Monitor system performance and propose improvements as needed. Participate and support dry-run and/or service cutover activities.
  3. Messaging Service Evolution: Drive Messaging Services features and platforms evolution inside the European Region, boosting harmonization and centralization strategies, relying on Network Function Virtualization architectures and contributing to cross-country Messaging Services Evolution projects in cooperation with other OpCos within the European Region.
  4. Vendor Management: Coordinate and manage end-to-end vendor activities, in order to guarantee projects time to market and compliance to user requirements.
  5. Consistent tracking, detection, and evaluation of technology trends, identifying needs and initiating new processes or solution adjustments, including the introduction of new cost-effective technologies and projects.
  6. Drive Messaging Platforms evolution towards Network Function Virtualization architecture.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Demand Management: Define, design, and implement solutions to fit business requirements.
  2. Vendor Management: Manage external and internal suppliers, ensuring the delivery of services.
  3. Collaboration: Work with national and international peers at Technology or Commercial areas and Executives within various national companies, Network Strategy & Engineering.
  4. Solutions Design & Implementation: Including certification & testing activities and post-deployment support.
  5. Messaging Services Architecture: Define and evolve architecture, ensuring the correct sizing and capacity of the messaging systems.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  1. Long-standing (over 5 years) professional experience.
  2. Cross-functional and multi-cultural collaboration. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  3. Delivering results, managing a changing environment, and being customer-oriented.
  4. Strong expertise in Messaging Services.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Qualifications:

  1. Career degree - Computer Science or Telecommunications.
  2. High level of written and spoken English.
  3. Knowledge of telecom technologies, Core Network, Value Added Services, Network Function Virtualization, DevOps/Agile delivery frameworks, Cloud & Containerized environments.
  4. Ability to work in a changing environment managing multiple & changing priorities.
  5. Project Management Certification (preferred).
  6. Ability to understand marketing needs and reference market evolution.
