On-Call Consultant Psychiatrist

Bloomfield Hospital is inviting applications for the position of On-Call Consultant Psychiatrist.
Reports to: Clinical Director
Work Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham Dublin 16, Ireland
Contract Type: Relief Contract over 12 months
On-Call Working Hours: 17:00 on a Monday to 08.00 on the following Monday and 24-hour cover on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays (with commitment for some onsite cover during weekends, when required) i.e. cover will be provided from 17.00 - 08.00 each day of the ordinary working days on which cover is provided, with 24-hour cover on the Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays on which the Consultant Psychiatrist is on call. Bloomfield Hospital will mutually agree on cover dates with you. A minimum commitment of 7 weeks of cover will be required from you.

Bloomfield Hospital is a 131-bed in-patient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Our ethos is rooted in honoring the dignity of every person who comes through our doors.
Bloomfield Hospital provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. We are the only facility in Ireland that provides a high level of specialized care for people with Huntington's disease.
In Bloomfield Hospital there is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery-oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions, which are evidence-based to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. This care is delivered through a Multidisciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice.

Person Specification:
- Full registration in the Specialist Register (Psychiatrist) of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland.
- Experience in general adult psychiatry with a sub-specialised interest in either Psychiatry of Later Life or Neuropsychiatry or Rehabilitation is desirable.
- It is preferred that the candidate be Dublin-based, for onsite emergencies.
- Energetic individual with solid clinical experience in working with a team of diverse clinicians and strong knowledge of the concepts and operation of Clinical Governance.
- Have strong knowledge and experience of health, safety, and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organisation.
- Flexibility in delivering on-call hours.
