The ideal candidate will have a background in occupational health and safety or environmental, whether that be through hands-on work experience or academic experience. The SHEQ Officer will collaborate with various departments to create a culture of SHEQ. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an industry leader and gain valuable experience whilst being part of the SHEQ team with development opportunities, coaching, and training to help you on your journey.
Responsibilities
- Identify potential hazards, risks, and environmental impacts in the workplace, report on internal systems, and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, environmental assessments & audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Provide training to employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and quality issues, and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor workplace conditions to prevent occupational health issues and promote employee well-being.
- Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address SHEQ concerns.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills as needed.
- Promote a culture of SHEQ excellence throughout the organization.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance SHEQ processes.
Qualifications
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental would be an advantage.
- Proven experience as a EHS Officer or in a similar role, preferably in a high-risk industry.
- Strong analytical skills to identify hazards, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train employees and collaborate across departments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
