What You’ll Do at Work
- Embark on a thrilling journey as you install, commission, and maintain electronic systems designed to protect people, properties, and assets.
- Gain in-depth knowledge about our cutting-edge systems, including fire detection, intrusion detection, CCTV, and access control solutions.
- Hit the road in your own company van, visiting a variety of sites, from residential to commercial and retail locations.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team, absorbing invaluable skills that will pave the way to becoming a qualified fire and security engineer.
Where You’ll Work
You will primarily be based in Dublin; however, the role is a nationwide role, so travel is expected depending on the job.
Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your Training Course
Electronic Security Systems level 6
Your Training Plan
You will be enrolled on a level 6 Electronic Security Systems apprenticeship, delivered by our training partners Solas. This apprenticeship is a 4-year program consisting of 7 phases: 4 on-the-job and 3 off-the-job in a training facility.
You will attend on a block release basis training and receive on-the-job guidance from experienced mentors and engineers.
Requirements / Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have a minimum of grade D in 5 subjects in the Junior Cycle or Leaving Cert exam including Maths and English.
Full Driving Licence is essential.
Colour Vision Test - A person entering employment as an apprentice must pass the 'Ishihara' Colour Vision Test 24 Plate Edition. The results of the applicant's colour vision test must be accompanied with the appropriate SOLAS Colour Vision Application Form and a signed passport photograph of the applicant.
Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other Requirements
This exciting opportunity is field-based, meaning you will collaborate with our skilled engineers while traveling to our customers' sites daily. The role may require heavy lifting and working at heights.

What’s Next?
Suitable candidates will be contacted via email to provide their evidence of required certifications. Once we receive the evidence of certification you will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre, where you will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview.
Candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can expect to begin the apprenticeship with Johnson Controls in the late summer of 2025.
