Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Team Horizon Full time

Construction Manager

Team Horizon is seeking a Construction Manager for a leading pharmaceutical company in South Dublin.

The candidate would be responsible for overseeing significant components of a construction project up to €50m in value.

The candidate would be expected to work with some strategic guidance from their manager/peers but have the ability to work independently for the most part. It is important that the candidate has experience working on large projects – ideally another biopharmaceutical facility (or similar). They will be working in a fast-paced atmosphere with multiple stakeholders. Managing these stakeholders, both construction contractors and key client personnel, is a key portion of the role.

Why you should apply:

  • This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-class manufacturing operation, with an outstanding track record of reliably delivering high-quality medicines to patients around the world suffering serious illnesses.
  • There is a strong culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the company to strive for solutions that improve health outcomes and dramatically improve people's lives.
  • Our client is developing the capability to produce all its medicines in Dublin, helping to ensure continuity of supply of our medicines as they expand internationally.

What you will be doing:

  • The Senior Construction Manager will lead planning and oversee execution of construction tasks. Coordination of contractor personnel, ensuring information is available from the architectural/engineering designers and taking client inputs are key.
  • It is critical for this individual to understand that Safety, Quality and Compliance are our highest priorities in how we manage and perform our work.
  • With minimal guidance, the candidate will lead a substantial portion of the construction of a €50M biopharma facility construction: Safety, planning, schedule, risk, communications, resources, team dynamics and performance, implementation, monitoring, completion and follow-up.
  • Construction management including planning/scoping and execution, prioritization, resources management, status management and external communication.
  • Working with various stakeholders, both inside and outside the company to scope works and ensure requirements are satisfied.
  • Managing expectations and communicating project progress and challenges to these stakeholders.
  • Lead day-to-day construction management of project works.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that installations and deliverables meet industry standards and client expectations.
  • Strategic solution seeking to complex project phasing and execution issues.
  • The Construction Manager will be responsible for their project from concept, through design, construction, commissioning and operation.
  • Work in a collaborative manner within the Process Teams structure and contributes to Root Cause Investigations and Cross Functional Investigations.
  • Role model safety leadership. Support a safe working environment by driving compliance with environmental health/safety practice, rules and regulations.
  • Ensure projects are designed with superior levels of environmental control, health and safety built in.
  • Supervise contingent workers as needed. These workers include construction managers and all general craft labour and A&E firm personnel.

What you need to apply:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Relevant Experience.
  • Typically, 5+ years construction management/engineering experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry / aseptic pharmaceutical environment.
  • Proven construction management experience from project inception through to handover.
  • Demonstrated experience in a GDP Compliant environment advantageous.
  • Solid leadership skillset and experience working in a team environment, embracing an interdependent working culture that delivers results.
  • Technical report writing and communication/presentation skills.
  • Data driven decision maker.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
