The Role:The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland's infrastructure. The area drives investment and the sustainability and innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored.
The Sustainability Reporting and Policy team conduct the necessary monitoring, evaluation and reporting on the organisation's sustainability obligations and ambitions - both internal and external - acting as the 'one stop shop' for all Uisce Éireann sustainability related data. The team is also responsible for guiding the organisation's sustainability policy direction, ensuring the development of the right set of sustainability related policies to enable the realisation of sustainability commitments - ensuring consistency and clarity in their interpretation and implementation across internal functions within Uisce Éireann.
Reporting to the Sustainability Reporting & Policy Senior Manager, the Sustainability Reporting Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading the Sustainability function's drive to transform the sustainability environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting culture, in alignment with changing global reporting obligations, reporting frameworks and standards. The Sustainability Reporting Compliance Manager will work closely with various departments to drive accurate, consistent and transparent reporting across a range of sustainability initiatives designed to align with and achieve Uisce Éireann's sustainability framework ambitions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Manage and lead the development and implementation of effective reporting to support Uisce Éireann's ESG sustainability strategy, clearly demonstrating compliance to reporting obligations.
- Proactively establish if sustainability progress is behind target or expectations by identifying data/information gaps with a solutions-oriented and collaborative approach to addressing and closing those gaps.
- Identifying opportunities for Uisce Éireann to optimise existing data and narrative information to augment or supplement sustainability ESG reporting in terms of building credible evidence bases.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of formal validated and/or verified ESG reports including the accuracy, robustness and consistency of data and narrative information by implementing appropriate and auditable policies, processes and procedures.
- Research and provide analysis of sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks to enable UÉ to apply for, and achieve, formal reporting approvals.
- Ensure the establishment, or maintenance of, an effective and efficient sustainability ESG data and information management system, ideally with the view to maximising current enterprise systems or building out that capability separately.
- Accountable for applying best practice in sustainability data and information management & assurance.
- Provide visible leadership and coaching to develop and optimise the performance and outputs of the sustainability reporting and policy team, highlighting collaboration and expected behaviours.
- Relevant third level degree qualifications and or accreditation in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business or Finance is desirable, and/or relevant experience.
- Minimum 7 years' relevant experience in the water, utilities or similar industries desirable.
- Demonstrated working knowledge, or understanding, of the evolving sustainability environment, concepts, guidelines (ESG etc), reporting frameworks etc.
- Sustainability reporting software systems knowledge/experience desirable.
- Strong analytical and robust data collation & management skills (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint etc.).
- Experience managing a large team, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills.
- Experienced in project management and collaborating across departments achieving shared objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating teams to deliver customer-focused objectives that enhance service delivery.
- Proven track record in leading continuous improvement initiatives in teams. Strong background in team motivation, and performance enhancement.
- Demonstrated Experience of developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and influencing an environment of open, honest communication while upholding high ethical standards.
- Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity generating effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
- Demonstrated experience in setting measurable safety and well-being goals for a team.
