Summary of Position

To participate in the production of PET radiotracers for clinical use. It involves production and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals, operating a range of automated and manual radiochemical synthesis. It also involves assisting in all aspects of operating and maintaining the facility to GMP standards, including equipment and laboratory maintenance, environmental monitoring, incoming materials management, and stock control.

Essential Functions
  1. Manufacture PET radiopharmaceuticals using hot cells in a clean environment (aseptic manufacture and terminal sterilization)
  2. Sanitisation/cleaning cleanroom suite facilities
  3. Dispensing of PET radiopharmaceuticals
  4. Daily operation of cyclotron and associated support equipment
  5. Adopting radiation protection technique at all times ALARA
  6. Packing and dispatch of radiopharmaceuticals according to local guidelines and transport regulations
  7. Collating received orders and inputting them into the dispensing planning
  8. To carry out staff training and knowledge sharing when applicable
  9. Cleanroom monitoring including environmental monitoring, radiation monitoring and quality assurance compliance
  10. Preventative maintenance and repair of synthesis, dispensing and cyclotron equipment
  11. Examples of duties include: monitoring and upkeep of PET radiochemistry modules and environment; assisting with the routine monitoring of facility and equipment; routine servicing of equipment; receipting goods, checking materials and performing the stock control of consumables, chemicals and gases and disposal of waste chemicals and materials.
  12. Recording of the logs for fridge, freezers, isolator checks and all other logs
  13. Raising and completing deviation reports where applicable
  14. Participate in Root Cause Analysis and CAPA identification
  15. Effective communication with all colleagues to facilitate efficiency in both production and quality related matters
  16. Maintain paper and electronic records from all production processes for statutory purposes, including production and quality control under GMP.
  17. Comply with the requirements of the Pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Ionising Radiation Local Rules, COSSH and Health & Safety procedure
Requirements

Level of professional and intellectual ability:

  • Knowledge of Ionising Radiation Local Rules, COSSH and Health & Safety procedure (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of working within a GMP environment.
  • A willingness to work flexibly and commit to early working hours in shift pattern.

Education/experience:

  • Related Science Degree (Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or related discipline)
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry and good manufacturing practice is desirable
  • Experience in sterile manufacture would be advantageous
