Dublin, Ireland OpenAI Full time

About the Team

OpenAI Finance is responsible for ensuring the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission. The International Controller will work cross-functionally with senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance for all of our non-US entities, provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision making, and is a financial linchpin for the organization.

About the Role

We’re looking for an International Controller who will lead OpenAI’s core accounting and financial reporting functions for all non-US entities. You will oversee monthly close, statutory reporting, audits, systems, and policies. This role requires deep technical experience in IFRS and US GAAP, and the ability to solve complex problems across diverse subject areas.

This strategic, yet hands-on role, will report to the Controller and work closely with the VP of Finance, cross-functional executives in tax, legal and technical accounting, and key external partners. You will be a key player in driving the financial success of the organization by building – and sustaining – a world-class finance team supporting the company’s global operations.

This role is based in our Dublin, Ireland office. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  1. Oversee accounting processes for all non-US entities, including consolidations, currency elections, and intercompany transactions.
  2. Partner with tax and treasury teams to implement transfer pricing and other intercompany arrangements.
  3. Manage financial reporting across multiple legal entities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and IFRS or local regulations as applicable.
  4. Partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external advisors to implement scalable systems and accounting policies for growth.
  5. Lead statutory audits and compliance reporting for global non-US entities, ensuring accurate reporting and controls.
  6. Streamline month-end close and consolidation processes while integrating automation tools.
  7. Develop and mentor a high-performing global accounting team.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  1. CPA, CA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
  2. 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting leadership roles in multinational environments, including entities in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM.
  3. Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency reporting.
  4. Experience managing audits, compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  5. Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and reporting tools.
  6. Exceptional project management, communication, and leadership skills.
