Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Manager to lead a dynamic team of software engineers in building and deploying high-quality, scalable products. Reporting into a director of engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving engineering excellence, mentoring team members, and ensuring the successful delivery of features and enhancements across our platform. As a key member of the engineering leadership team, you'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and senior leadership to deliver innovative solutions and meet business objectives.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers to achieve both individual and team goals.
  2. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  3. Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development discussions with team members.
  4. Guide the team in adopting best practices, including agile methodologies, CI/CD, test-driven development, and clean code principles.
  5. Help guide the technical direction of the team, ensuring scalable, high-quality, and maintainable solutions are delivered on time.
  6. Oversee the architecture and design of systems and features in collaboration with senior engineers.
  7. Drive initiatives to improve system performance, reliability, and security across the platform.

Collaboration & Cross-functional Leadership:

  1. Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on product requirements, technical feasibility, and timelines.
  2. As a part of engineering leadership, provide technical insights during product roadmap discussions and help prioritize engineering efforts based on business impact.

Project & Delivery Management:

  1. Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and engineering deliverables to ensure timely and successful product launches.
  2. Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint retrospectives.

Process & Continuous Improvement:

  1. Identify and implement improvements to engineering processes, workflows, and tools.
  2. Help the team maintain high levels of quality through code reviews, testing, and monitoring.
  3. Foster a culture of experimentation and learning to continuously drive innovation and improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or team lead role.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  3. Proven experience leading a SaaS engineering team, delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software.
  4. Experience with cloud-based technologies and SaaS architectures.
  5. Expertise in modern software development technologies, including but not limited to, AWS ecosystem, TypeScript, Python and VUE.
  6. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and experience managing sprints and releases.
  7. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage engineering talent.
  8. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development best practices.
  9. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  10. Experience with software testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  11. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
