Based in Navan, Co Meath, the primary objective of this role is to manage the entire manufacturing facility across all operational departments and meet the needs of our customers daily. The Plant Manager is responsible for all day-to-day site-based activities ranging from Environmental Health & Safety, Quality Control, Production, Warehousing, Technical Processing and Maintenance. The Plant Manager must lead by example, strive for results, challenge the status quo, improve best practice, and coach multi-disciplined teams.


Key Attributes

  1. Engineering/Operational Management Degree qualified – Level 8 / Level 7+ with experience considered.
  2. 8+ years working at a Senior Management level in a manufacturing role.
  3. Ability to collaborate with peer groups and improve business & site performance.
  4. Proven track record in delivering on Health & Safety and Operational KPI’s.
  5. Experience leading the sites Lean Management and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  6. Shows drive and initiative. Is committed to excellence and pursues high standards.
  7. Is a natural and charismatic leader with the necessary empathy to understand the drivers of another person and to motivate teams.
  8. Promotes teamwork and a positive team spirit.
  9. Communicates in an open, direct and transparent manner, without avoiding discussions.
  10. Strong organisational, problem solving, and time management skills.
  11. Proficient in Microsoft and SAP Software Systems preferred.


Key Tasks and Duties

  1. Positively reinforce company leadership values and goals to all employees on an ongoing basis.
  2. Overall management of operational KPIs on site to ensure customer requirements are met.
  3. Developing site business, department strategies and implementation of group initiatives.
  4. Coach a cross functional team of direct reports responsible for manufacturing our products.
  5. Maintain a proactive culture of continuous improvements & best practice throughout the plant.
  6. Identify KPI improvements and cost savings initiatives with the site management team.
  7. Ensuring all operational personnel are trained so that optimum operational performance is achieved.
  8. Site remains audit ready & in compliance with ISO standards, regulations, and statutory agencies.
  9. Collaborate with colleagues across IRL & UK sites plus the insulation division on group wide initiatives.
  10. Provide regular updates to Operations Manager, Group Managers & Leadership Team.
  11. Undertake flexible working hours & travel to our sites within Unilin as required.
  12. Further developing a high-performance organisation, steer an operational excellence approach.
  13. Achieve optimal results in a cost-efficient and high-quality manner. Monitor volumes, cost, quality and overall OEE.
  14. Embed the Zero Harm culture (health & safety culture and improve H&S performance – frequency/severity).
  15. Launch CAPEX investments to keep up with the technological innovations.
  16. Create a healthy work culture in line with the UNILIN values. Remain an employer of choice.
  17. Create an effective organisational structure. Coach and develop the employees to ensure their competences, skills and know-how are used and developed to the best advantage.
  18. Establish good collaboration with all internal (Insulation, UNILIN and Mohawk) and external stakeholders (clients, business partners, competitors, employer's associations).
