Our client, a leader in the global biopharmaceutical industry, is seeking an EHS Specialist II to support their manufacturing site in Sligo.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comply with EHS policy and procedures, demonstrating best practices in all work activities and ensuring safety for self and others.
  • Report any incidents or near misses immediately to supervisors and raise events in the EHS system.
  • Support a culture of excellence by recognizing and submitting opportunities for improvement on the EHS system.
  • Attend required training and medical surveillance programs, wearing PPE as necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of Environmental Health and Safety throughout the plant, fostering a positive culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, company policies, and technical standards.
  • Develop systems and procedures optimizing safety, health, and environmental performance.
  • Manage contractor safety performance KPIs and ensure effective contractor management systems.
  • Provide direction and support to meet Global EHS Management and Technical Standards, ISO regulations, and other external requirements.
  • Liaise with Managers to ensure employees are trained to a defined competency standard on EHS policies and procedures.
  • Perform risk assessments throughout the plant and oversee training on risk assessments.
  • Ensure adequate training for employees and contractors to perform roles in compliance with EHS standards.
  • Manage the EHS assessment of new chemicals and processes.
  • Implement ongoing evaluation of EHS awareness activities and develop continuous improvement on EHS programs.
  • Provide EHS reports to Division and Corporate as requested.
  • Support and continuously monitor the Site Emergency Response Plan.
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years relevant experience and BSc in Occupational Safety & Health Level 8, or equivalent degree in a related discipline.
  • Internal Occupational Health and Safety Management System Auditor (ISO 45001 & ISO14001) certification.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, adaptability to new manufacturing processes, and ability to cope with technical demands.
  • Total commitment to quality and safety at all times.
