Team/Role Overview:

The Data Governance Foundation Lead Analyst is responsible for contributing to the directional strategy and assisting in creation and modification of Enterprise Data Governance Strategy, and/or Data Risk and Control Framework and Data Risk Taxonomy. The focus of this role may be on one or more of the following areas: assisting in identification, measurement and reporting, data policy adoption and compliance, data controls framework performance and issue management process, and regulatory and audit response and action tracking.

This role requires someone who is dynamic, flexible, and can easily respond to quickly changing needs. The candidate must have the ability to handle ambiguity and complexity and be able to deliver on multiple responsibilities. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others.

What you will do:
  1. Partner with multiple teams to implement relevant Data Governance policies and/or Data Risk and Control framework.
  2. Provide expertise on Data Governance and/or Data Risk and Controls framework including design, effectiveness, performance monitoring and self-assessment processes.
  3. Oversight and analysis of data-related issues, tracking of ownership and target dates and associated metrics and reporting.
  4. Support and coordinate with business lines and global functions on enterprise Data Governance strategy roll out, including new Data risk taxonomy and associated changes to key risk indicators and control framework.
  5. Gather and synthesize metrics on existing Data Governance and/or Data Risk and Controls principles, policies, practices and standards, e.g., understanding industry best practices.
  6. Produce recommendations for enterprise-wide guiding principles, policies, processes and practices.
  7. Determine requirements for and prioritize development of new enterprise-wide principles, policies, processes and practices as needed.
  8. Develop and manage approach for measuring adoption of principles, policies, processes and practices.
  9. Work with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize business use cases, provide comprehensive data management, and support data pipelines.
  10. Develop a sound understanding of core business processes and data flows between different systems.
  11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, identify data sources, and collect and process data.
  12. Implement appropriate data standards, data quality rules and controls.
  13. Use your strong analytical skills to identify, collect, organize, analyze, clean and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  14. Define and document processes to improve and optimize future opportunities.
  15. Guide, influence, and convince colleagues in other areas to adopt the latest technologies and framework to support Citi's global data strategy.
  16. Use some of the latest technologies and business intelligence tools across AWS, Snowflake, Dataiku, Starburst, Jupyter notebooks and more.
What we'll need from you:
  1. Relevant experience in a Data Governance/ Data Management/ Process Engineering or related area.
  2. Advanced understanding of Project Management methodologies and tools.
  3. Requires basic commercial awareness - familiarity with Securities Services businesses such as Custody and Fund services is extremely desirable.
  4. Ability to monitor tight deadlines or unexpected requirement changes, with the ability to anticipate and balance needs of multiple stakeholders.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  6. Significant business data analysis experience.
  7. Strong data analysis skill (e.g. SQL) along with an understanding of technical patterns used to consume and process data at scale.
  8. Experience with leading digital initiatives as a Product Owner in Agile development process is a plus.
  9. Extensive experience working with engineers and developers to understand what is technically possible, how to translate customer's needs into technical requirements that delivers scalable, reliable, and standardized data solutions.
  10. Strategic, results-driven and passionate about designing best-in-class digital experiences and staying at the forefront of cutting-edge technology in the servicing space.
  11. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  12. Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams and organizations to get the job done.
  13. A proven track record of problem-solving, adaptability, and creativity in addressing complex challenges.

  • Data Management certification (eg DAMA).
  • Program / change management / Agile certification (eg PMP, PRINCE2, SAFE).
  • Knowledge of and an interest in commonly used Data Management tooling & approaches (eg Data Quality, Data Lineage etc).
  • Understanding of current and emerging data dependent technologies & products, including data analytics, Cloud & AI.
