We are currently recruiting for a full-time Kitchen Porter for RDS Members in Royal Dublin Society. Candidates must have right to work documentation for full-time employment (40 hours per week).

Location: Royal Dublin Society
Rate of pay: €14.50 per hour
Working pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday - Sunday

Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesFood Production
  1. To complete duties in the kitchen and service areas as directed that are necessary to ensure an efficient, hygienic service is provided.
  2. To assist with food preparation as required.
  3. To transport all food items, cleaning materials, and laundry from the delivery area to kitchen store-rooms and kitchen preparation areas as required.
  4. Responsible for the cleaning of kitchen floors, walls, waste bins, hot plates, kitchen equipment, canopies, delivery areas, storerooms, walk-in fridges, and all other areas as necessary to ensure a hygienic kitchen and service areas.
  5. To clean, wash, dry, and polish all kitchen equipment and service items by hand or machine in an efficient manner.
  6. Operate all necessary sterilizing equipment.
  7. To operate all heavy equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Responsible for the correct disposal and recycling of all rubbish.
Kitchen Finance
  1. Check all stock against delivery orders and ensure correct items and quantities are delivered. Account for all stock brought into site and store appropriately to minimize waste and loss.
  2. Use equipment carefully to avoid breakage.
  3. Assist in weekly and monthly stock-takes as directed.
Health & Safety
  1. To understand and comply with Gather & Gather and statutory health, hygiene and safety, quality standards including COSHH and HACCP ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with these standards in all areas of the site as outlined in the Gather & Gather handbook.
  2. To decant all food items in the delivery area and store in the appropriate containers to reduce the chance of cross-contamination. All food items to be stored in line with company and health and safety regulations.
  3. To decant all chemical materials delivered to the site to appropriate containers in line with standards.
  4. Use and store all chemicals appropriately in line with standards.
  5. Wear the correct uniform and safety shoes as directed and maintain uniform items appropriately.
  6. Report any equipment and/or building fabric faults and any hygiene, health and safety hazards to the Head Chef, senior members of the kitchen brigade, or General Manager.
Customer Service
  1. To maintain a professional and friendly image with the client and customers at the relevant site.
  2. Work effectively and cooperatively with all colleagues at the relevant site to ensure excellent customer service.
  3. Attend to customer needs in a polite and helpful manner providing assistance where necessary in line with the Gather & Gather style.
  4. To assist with the service of food as required and accurately handle cash sales.
Occasional Responsibilities
  1. To attend training courses and Gather & Gather meetings when necessary.
  2. To act as a resource to the General Manager, Head Chef, and other brigade members.
