PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The position of CNM2 in the Oncology Day Ward at The Amber Oncology Day Ward involves providing outpatient services for cancer patients, specifically focusing on systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and related procedures. This role requires maintaining excellent patient care standards, effective communication, and leadership within the oncology unit at TUH. The CNM2 is responsible for ensuring the quality of service aligns with oncology best practices and contributes to organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Be registered in the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and hold at least 5 years of post-registration experience, with 2 years in the specialty area. Possess a post-graduate qualification of level 7 or higher in the relevant specialty. Exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Show continuous commitment to learning and professional growth. Desirable: Experience in Healthcare Management or a related field. Knowledge of Haematology. Previous work in a Haematology day ward.

General Accountability Prioritize patient needs and comfort in all hospital activities. Adhere to hospital policies and emergency plans. Maintain high standards of care consistent with the hospital's values. Report to the CNM3 and Assistant Director of Nursing. Specific Accountability
Clinical Role Plan and assess patient care in collaboration with the Nursing Team. Uphold high standards of evidence-based care according to hospital policies. Ensure patient dignity and rights are respected at all times. Communicate effectively with the medical team regarding patient status and care plans. Document patient assessments accurately and ensure holistic nursing care. Manage oncology ward operations efficiently and oversee patient flow. Take a lead role in providing comprehensive oncology services across all cancer care areas. Management Responsibilities Coordinate nursing services safely and effectively for haematology patients. Review patient care pathways and drive process improvements. Engage in service development initiatives and staff supervision. Participate in patient education and health promotion activities. Monitor and address nursing complaints and incidents. Staff Management Provide leadership for Staff Nurses and ensure adequate staffing levels. Support staff training and development needs. Foster open communication and teamwork among staff. Ensure compliance with hospital disciplinary policies. Information Technology Optimize information technology for patient care and administrative tasks. Ensure staff are trained in relevant computer systems. Health & Safety Ensure staff compliance with health and safety regulations. Prepare and update risk assessments and safety statements. Hygiene/Infection Control Promote infection control measures and staff hygiene awareness. Encourage adherence to infection prevention protocols. Quality, Safety and Risk Management Support quality and risk management programmes. Confidentiality Maintain patient confidentiality and respect privacy rights. Data Management Adhere to data protection regulations. Development of Hospital Groups Adapt to potential changes in reporting relationships due to hospital restructuring.
