An exciting opportunity is available for a housekeeper at the new Bluebell ward. Bluebell will be a 12 bedded acute admission ward for older adults with a functional mental health diagnosis opening in September 2024.

This is a new ward that will be based at Walton Hospital.

We are looking for a House keeper to work either 30 hours or 22.5 hours per week. The post will be over a seven day week, working weekends and bank-holidays.

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder will work as part of the ward team and be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities and services in the ward area and ensure that there is a safe and comfortable environment
  • The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of some cleaning, catering, and laundry together with other specified tasks to meet patient need as determined by the ward
  • The post holder will be required to work closely with the facilities department and to monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies and meet PLACE and CQC outcomes
  • To assist the nursing team to ensure that patients have a good nutritional intake and enhance the mealtime experience for all patients
  • To ensure that the beds are made and that bedrooms are tidy and all repairs are reported to the facilities/estates department
  • Laundry is be managed according to patients needs
  • Stock control is to be managed and storerooms are to be maintained

Person SpecificationEducation and Experience
  • Educated up to the age of 16, ie GCSE or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a hospital or care setting
  • Mental health experience
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in healthcare or catering
Skills and Knowledge
  • Able to use a computer
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
