Job Title: Part-Time Health and Safety Officer

Position Type: Part-Time

Purpose of the Role:

Ensure compliance with the company's health and safety policies, legislation, and procedures within Vision Ireland Group, Services, Foundation, and Retail.

Offer advice and guidance on health and safety matters, ensuring standards are met and staff are well-equipped.

Responsibilities:

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legislation and regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections, fire drills, and risk assessments
  • Establish health & safety inspection programmes
  • Identify potential hazards through inspections and audits
  • Maintain safety records and manage incident investigations

Training and Education:

  • Deliver health and safety training programs
  • Maintain training records
  • Provide guidance to staff
  • Stay updated on health and safety best practices

Emergency Response:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans
  • Respond to emergencies as needed
  • Carry out post-incident investigations

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Promote a positive health and safety culture
  • Effectively communicate policies and updates
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Travel:

Travel across Ireland for inspections, training, and support.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years experience as a Health and Safety Officer
  • Hold a relevant academic award
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Flexibility and prioritisation skills
  • First Aid and Fire Safety qualifications
  • Access to suitable transport

Working Hours:

  • Part-time role with flexibility required
  • Availability for call-outs and travel
