About the Role

Job Purpose: The Research & Policy Officer will support the delivery of research and policy in line with the Irish Hospice Foundation research strategy which support the vision and mission of IHF towards better end of life and bereavement care.

Contract Type: Permanent Full time (37 hours a week)

Job Location: Our offices are based on Nassau St., Dublin 2. We have a hybrid work model in place (a minimum requirement of 2 days a week in the office).

Reporting to: Director of Research and Policy

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Research and Policy in implementing the IHF research strategy.
  • Coordinate research across IHF and Manage individual research projects.
  • Support opportunities for Public and Patient Involvement (PPI)
  • Work with personnel from various areas within IHF to develop a knowledge translation plan for IHF research.
  • Conducting literature reviews and making recommendations based on findings.
  • Management and analysis of quantitative data sets.
  • Qualitative data collection and analysis, including supporting or conducting interviews and focus groups, transcription, and qualitative analysis.
  • Liaising with, establishing, and maintaining connections with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working alongside the Director of Research and Policy to provide evaluation and monitoring to the organisation.
  • Writing and proofing reports and developing presentations as required.
  • Participating in required educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the manager or designated person.

Qualifications and Experience

IHF is open to applications from candidates who have experience in most but not all of the following areas.The successful candidate will be supported through their induction to increase their knowledge and ability to deliver on the responsibilities outlined here. Further training and ongoing support will be available.

  • A relevant research qualification at postgraduate level
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of carrying out applied research in an area relevant to the experiences of dying, death and bereavement
  • Skills in project management, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, report writing, and knowledge translation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Research and analytic skills
  • Good comprehension of data protection practices
  • Experience of working collaboratively across an organisation structure
  • Ability to gather and analyse complex information and consider the range of options available.
  • Strong numerical, analytical skills and attention to detail.
