Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, is inviting applications for a Data Engineer within our Business services division. The deadline for applications is 17th June 2024.

Role Purpose
Exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join Ibec. The successful person will report to the Head of Data Analytics and work as part of a team to support the implementation of Ibec's multi-years data strategy and capability build. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed data expert who enjoys optimizing data systems and has demonstrable experience working with a Microsoft Azure data engineering stack.

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implementation: Develop and implement data fabric solutions using Microsoft Fabric technologies such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI, and Azure Data Factory. Build data products and services (predictive and prescriptive) for integration into systems and business processes.
  • Data Integration: Integrate diverse data sources and manage data ingestion pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility.
  • Data Management: Ensure effective data governance, data quality, and data security across all data solutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data flows and solutions to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Deployment management: Deploy data pipeline and engineering using DevOp deployment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to data integration and processing.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the data architecture, solutions, and processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in Microsoft Fabric and related technologies, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Data Strategy:
    Support the implementation of the Data strategy in conjunction with the IT strategy to provide relevant insights for use across applications

Person Specification

Qualifications
  • Degree Level in Data/IT or Equivalent
  • MS Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect,
  • Power BI certification
Competencies
  • Minimum of 5 years proven development experience with Microsoft data technologies, particularly MS Fabric components such as Azure Synapse Analytics, One Lake, Data Factory, Pipeline Management, Data Science, real-time analytics, and Power Platform.
  • Proven development experience using PySpark, SQL, Python
  • Proven experience operating DevOps deployment Dev – UAT and Production
  • Strong design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • MS Dataverse experience an advantage.
  • Azure Purview knowledge an advantage.
  • Experience with REST APIs and other APIs an advantage.
