Overall Purpose of the Job
We aim to deliver exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, and compassion are paramount in all aspects of our work.
The Health Care Assistant role involves providing technical assistance and compassionate patient care across designated areas.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Assist with patient activities and care as directed by the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator.
- Provide personal hygiene care for patients, including bathing, oral care, and skin care.
- Assist with feeding and mobility needs of patients.
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to specific precautions.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Keep patient care areas clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Comply with departmental internal controls.
- Identify and communicate any issues promptly.
- Demonstrate understanding and adherence to hospital policies.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Individual assessment of patient needs.
- Involvement of patients' families as appropriate.
- Adherence to hospital-wide policies and guidelines for patient care.
- Supervision of patient meal and dietary requirements.
- Adherence to visiting time policies.
Personal & Professional Responsibilities
- Attend all mandatory education sessions promptly.
- Maintain a positive representation of Beacon Hospital.
- Participate in relevant education and performance reviews.
- Practice effective time management and professional appearance.
- Adhere to guidelines for attendance and participation.
- Remain flexible to support fluctuating patient needs.
- Wear Identification Badge during work.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Completion of a Health Care Assistants course preferred.
Experience
