Financial Accountant / Senior Financial Accountant

(Dublin/Hybrid)

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

BioMarin is looking for a highly motivated Financial Accountant / Senior Financial Accountant with a strong background in applying accepted accounting principles to analyze financial data accurately and timely, implementing proper account control procedures. This role will be a key member of an international accounting team responsible for essential accounting areas, corporate & business accruals, and ad hoc reporting. The position will liaise with finance management and global accounting teams, supporting the Associate Director – Europe & Canada Accounting.

We are specifically seeking an individual with the following characteristics:

  • Strong communication skills, comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams at all levels

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate reporting under US GAAP
  • Annual financial reporting to local statutory authorities under IFRS and local GAAP
  • Reconciliation between US GAAP and local GAAP
  • Analytical review of financial data and presenting performance to senior leadership
  • Supporting entity profitability analysis and Global Transfer Pricing
  • Collaborating with Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure accurate goods receipting and accruals
  • Management of financial statement audits and supporting the tax filing process
  • Engagement in the SOX audit process, managing relationships with external providers, and identifying process improvements
  • Working closely with Finance colleagues globally, supporting projects and continuous improvement initiatives

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum three to five years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley and ERP systems like Oracle and SAP
  • Strong technical accounting skills and the ability to develop effective relationships
  • Results-oriented, flexible, and self-motivated

EDUCATION

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred)

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Close collaboration with Finance Department management and staff, cost centre managers, and external auditors. Regular interaction with Finance teams in Dublin, Cork, EMEA, Canada, and the US.
