ROLE: To oversee the care of Residents within the Nursing Home in the absence of the Home Manager, take charge of the day-to-day operations, and ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Staff Members contribute efficiently to the Nursing Home's operations and create a resident-friendly environment.
  • Engage with Residents to address their healthcare needs and liaise with the District Nurse when necessary.
  • Monitor and report any resident health issues and facilitate necessary professional visits.
  • Ensure proper meal quality and quantity for Residents and address dietary requirements.
  • Perform general nursing tasks and personal care as needed.
  • Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist the Home Manager in auditing Care Plans for best practices.
  • Maintain integrity in handling personal and financial affairs of Residents.
  • Establish respectful relationships with Residents promoting their independence.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing for on-call coverage and weekend duties as required.

Communication:

  • Maintain effective communication with the Home Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Update the Home Manager on incidents, accidents, and residents' health concerns.
  • Supervise visits and liaise with healthcare professionals for effective resident care.
  • Provide clear handover reports to Staff Members and participate in meetings.

Budgetary / Financial Control:

  • Manage allocated budgets and oversee sensible use of resources.

Human Resources (HR):

  • Implement HR policies, assist in staff recruitment, and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage sickness absence and enforce company policies with integrity.
  • Conduct staff training, appraisals, and ensure compliance with equal opportunities policies.
  • Plan staff duty schedules and ensure accurate payroll data collection.

Marketing:

  • Market the Nursing Home positively within the community and maintain a good reputation.
  • Collaborate with management to fill client vacancies and maintain the home's presentation.

Training & Development:

  • Train and guide new staff members, continuously improve professional knowledge, and attend training sessions.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure infection control, understand and implement safety procedures, and report hazards.
  • Promote safe practices within the Nursing Home.

General:

  • Adhere to NMBI guidelines, maintain stocks, keep records, and ensure resident confidentiality.
  • Be prepared for emergencies, maintain home security, and follow company policies diligently.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and undertake assigned tasks.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current NMBI Registration
  • Prior management experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Team player with a genuine interest in caring for the elderly
  • Garda Vetting clearance
  • Experience or qualification in Elderly Care

Desired:

  • Minimum two years of management/supervisory experience
